Thank you all for your feedback. This has been very helpful to me. I am not a photog, but rather someone who inherited 60+ years worth of family photos. I am currently looking into the most time efficient and cost effective way to get these pictures digitized for me and my siblings. I liked scancafe because they market that they scan at 600dpi and would "clean up" red eye and other issues. I would prefer to do this right 1X and turn over the digital copies so my siblings can decide which pictures they want. I'll keep researching. The blog and experience you had was very helpful. Thanks again.

I'm glad you are posting this Feedback. I signed up for Scancafe and get their 'Specials' emails. I was considering them for my scans but if their so backlogged, I'll look else where. Also, if their backlogged, then the operators are probably in a hurry and quality is on the back burner.
Thanks for your Review.

Damn! I wish I had read your review before sending some photos in for scanning. After scancafe received my order they sent me a message saying the order wouldn't be ready for three months. After repeated emails they said they would be ready for viewing 5 weeks after I sent them in. Still withing the 4-6 weeks they advertise. Today I get a message saying that 20% of my order is blurry and 7% is grainy. What a crock! I packaged these photos myself. Aparently they are severely backlogged and some technician is in a hurry and is making excuses of why my order will be handled poorly! God I wish I had sent them to someone else!
